About Dr. Selena
Orchestrating Family Greatness
Wherever I go,
parents are always asking me, "What's going on with my child?
They're out of control! Did I cause this? How do I correct it?" I
realize that these parents are usually at their wits end, so rather
than provide generic "tips" that they have more than likely read in
several parenting guides, I comfort them and set up personal,
one-on-one consultations.
Why do I do this? Because, I know in parenting, as in life,
one-size-fits-all answers don't work. Instead parents need real
parenting advice. What works for one family, may not work for
another. How do I know this? I'm a mother too. By working with
parents in a one-on-one environment, I'm able to listen, understand
and more importantly experience these unique problems. In doing so,
I am able to draw from my years of experience as a clinician as
well as a parent and incorporate this knowledge to provide
one-of-a-kind parenting advice for families.
Now I know what some of you might be thinking, "I thought clinical
advice is generic and doesn't provide results I can count on?"
While it's true that clinical advice by itself is a template, when
combined with real experience, however, it's extremely powerful.
Sure I specialize in child behavior, and more specifically have a
PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology and a Masters Degree in
Applied Behavior Analysis, but that knowledge only helps build the
foundation for the parenting advice I provide. Without my personal
experience and decades of solutions I've compiled, the successful
impact would not be as great as it can be.
And that's the key. By synchronizing clinical knowledge with
personal experience, I can keep families perfectly in tune and help
orchestrate a more harmonious environment. Every family, no matter
how great, needs a tune up every now and then, and that's what I do
- compose real, not rote, parenting advice created solely to solve
each family's unique problems.
Sincerely,
